Answers to your most frequently asked questions
I am a complete beginner, are your classes suitable for me?
In a word YES. Looking at the work showcased in our more advanced projects gallery we often forget that 95% of our students started with little or no previous woodworking experience. Everyone begins with our series of “introductory projects”. Working through these projects you will learn fundamental hand skills, identify the right tool for the job and be introduced to woodworking machinery. View the Introductory Projects.
Why are the introductory projects important?
If you have limited experience in woodworking, or it has been a long time since you picked up some tools, then the introductory projects will give you some practice and help you get back in the groove. In these projects you will learn how to mark out, plane, pare, finish your projects and care for hand tools.
Do I have to work to a time frame?
Everyone works at their own pace, there are no deadlines. Your satisfaction will come from a job well done.
When can I join a class and what is the process?
Classes are not term specific. You can join our group classes at any time, provided that space is available. Three weeks before the end of term current students are invited to re-enrol. Available places are filled from our waiting list. Enquire about Class Availability or Join our Waiting List.
When can I start my own furniture or woodworking project?
We have a variety of furniture and woodworking projects that you can move on to after completing the introductory projects. You may decide to tailor our pieces to suit your requirements or discuss a new project with Stuart. View More Advanced Projects.
