Completion of the 8x8 Intro Series is a perfect stepping stone to a place within an Ongoing Furniture Making Class, providing space is available. Building upon the skills and techniques developed in the Intro courses, you will be ready to move on to more complex joinery and construct a small item of furniture. Basic technical drawing skills and cut lists form part of the process and we will teach you concept ideation methods such as sketching and model making. Full scale mock ups can also be valuable tools to further refine your ideas and designs while customised jigs may be required to assist with a particular technique or construction process to help you achieve your goal.
Ongoing Furniture Making classes are presented in 3 hour sessions, once a week, over a term - usually 10 weeks. Students in these classes are given the opportunity to re-enrol at the end of each term and work at their own pace with the assistance of instructors.
Saturday mornings are my saviour ..... I look forward to it all week. Talented teachers and inspiring company. You guys rock!.- Clare, Current Student (Facebook)
Den Fair - Melb 8 - 10 June
Furniture making student Ed Ko was selected to exhibit his “Helio Stool” at Den Fair 2017. Eddy was one of twelve emerging designer/makers selected for 'Front Centre'.
Eddy has been coming to Heartwood Creative Woodworking since the early days of setting up our school in Sydney. Having mastered the basics Eddy is now in a position to extend his skill set and uses the workshop and all of the resources to construct his furniture prototypes.
"Thanks for all the support @heartwoodcreativewoodworking it's one thing to find a place that can teach you the basics but it's something special to find a place that nutures ones creativity" - Ed Ko.
