Mybench Making Course - 3 Days
Understand the features that make Mybench a great choice for woodworkers and come along and customise your own bench to suit your woodworking requirements.
" Carol, thank you for taking these photo's to record the creation of my terrific new workbench. I am 'over the moon' happy with the outcome ! I have always wanted to own a fine quality workbench, and it was a thrill to have actually helped build it and work under the guidance of Stuart who is such a fine, exacting, talented, patient craftsman and gentleman. My workbench will be treasured and used for the rest of my life, and it is the key step in the conversion of my home garage into a workshop. I recommend this course to anyone who wants the satisfaction of building and owning such a brilliant quality workbench. Thank you Stuart & Carol" 😎 Mark, Abbotsford - (Facebook)
"I have always had a desire to build a workbench that is not only built to my height but is also suited to the type of woodworking that I would like to pursue. The Mybench course met both of these criteria making the 3.5 hour trip each way well worth the effort. The Heartwood Creative workshop is meticulously laid out with a comprehensive collection of high quality tools. The class size is small allowing plenty of time for individual guidance and to ask plenty of other woodworking questions. Working under the guidance of Stuart Faulkner was a honour, a privilege and a dream come true as I have been following his work for some time. I would recommend this course to anyone wishing to build their own workbench in an inspirational workshop". Robbie Baker, Kandos NSW
At the heart of every woodworker’s practice is a good bench. When I signed up to the 3 day bench course with Heartwood Creative Woodworking, my goal was to bring home a bench. Not only did I achieve that, but I learnt so much more. The design of a bench is critical. Heartwood’s bench has been designed by a woodworker for a woodworker. I learnt more about design in this course than anything I have made to date - not only the need for a flat surface, but also the need to account for different holding methods. I also learnt about the importance of the joinery that keeps the bench straight and true. The use of Heartwood’s state of the art machinery and Stuart’s close instruction gave me so much more confidence when using tools and a better understanding of different joinery that I have not used before. Best of all, I have a bench that fits into my limited space at home but which will allow me to continue to learn the skills of woodworking. Thankyou so much Heartwood Creative Woodworking.

Woodies 4 Day Table Making Course
We recently worked in conjunction with the Woodworkers Assoc NSW to offer a 4 day members only table making course. Participants took rough sawn timber to a fully completed project, along the way practising handskills and making full use of the machine room. We also discussed different approaches to making joints, creating tapers, marking out and all manner of woodworking topics. A really fun way to start the New Year.
Maker: Sebastian Wood
Sebastian recently completed this American White oak table. It is a dry structure featuring Black Walnut through wedged tenons. The top was oiled and waxed, and makes the most of the “cathedral” figure in the back sawn boards.
